Academics

The first academic goal of Carvin School is to enable all students to read and write at their grade level in both English and Spanish. Both languages are taught as a first language with a second language approach when necessary. The program also provides for homogenous grouping at all grade levels.

Different Program Levels

  1. The GT (gifted and talented) program is geared to the gifted and talented students. These students work at an accelerated pace in the basic subjects and at the least, in one of the two languages. Most of these students take the advanced level exams in their senior year, and enter the university with 12 to 18 college credits approved at college level.
  2. The regular program provides for the majority of our students with the same tradition in excellence as in the GT program, but students work at a less accelerated pace.
